Do you ever feel as if you’re never getting enough time for yourself? It might be because you’re forever running around looking after the needs and wishes of your family. Or it might be because you’re always in work mode and catering to the needs of your boss or colleagues. Or there could be other reasons why you’re not getting time to yourself.

If you’re relating to what we’re saying, then the answer to the question in our title is an obvious one: You’re not getting enough me-time!
Of course, this might not bother you. You might enjoy being busy or you might have become used to the fact. However, it is important to gain control of your life and grab some me-time for yourself, for all of the following reasons.
#1: You will reduce your stress levels
While there are all kinds of remedies for stress, including CBD oil and the products your doctor might prescribe to you, one of the best courses of action is to reduce your busyness. If you never take the time to unwind, you will become more and more exhausted, and this will increase your stress levels. To counter this, recharge your batteries by slowing down and finding things to do that will help you relax, such as taking a relaxing bath, going for a slow walk, or spending time with a hobby. Or do nothing at all and simply have a nap! Your mental health will benefit as a result.
#2: You will be able to reconnect with yourself
When was the last time you had the opportunity to think about your goals, dreams, and needs? If you are always busy looking after the needs of others, it might be that you haven’t been able to consider such things recently. It’s important to remember that you are as important as the people you spend time with. By making opportunities for me-time, you will have time to consider your own life, and perhaps have more time to focus on what you need to do to make yourself happy.
#3: You will improve your relationships
This might sound counter-intuitive. How can you improve your relationships if you’re spending time away from others? Well, if you have ever been short-tempered with the people you live and work with, it might be because of your tiredness. If you can take a break from them for a while, you will have time to energise yourself. You will then have a greater capacity for patience, which is good news for you and good news for them. Then there’s the old adage: Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Feelings of love and compassion might escalate if you’re away from the people you know for a little while (and they might grow in these feelings towards you too).
Final word
These are just some of the reasons why me-time is important. So, schedule that time in for yourself by saying ‘no’ more often to people, and by finding windows during the day when you can be alone. You will experience the benefits if you do, above and beyond those we have advocated here.
