Little-Known Skincare Routines That Will Make Your Skin Shine

11th September 2020

Your skin is the biggest organ in your body – and also the most visible (at least for most people). And for that reason, it requires a lot of TLC. What your skin looks like on the outside is a reflection of occurrences on the inside. If you’re happy, then it’ll show up in your complexion. If you’re not, the same goes.

We all know about the well-known skincare routines – like wearing sunscreen outdoors and using moisturiser. But what about lesser-known strategies? Let’s take a look.

Use Exfoliators On Your Eyebrows

This tip might sound a little strange, but many people swear by it: exfoliating the eyebrows.

There’s a good reason for this: the skin underneath our eyebrows tends to get neglected. We spend most of the time attending to the skin in our T-zone or on our cheeks, failing to give the areas on our brows adequate attention.

Try exfoliating your eyebrows once per week or so. You should notice that you experience less skin fall in the region. You’ll also remove dead skin cells that have a nasty of flaking when you least want them to.

Pay More Attention To Your Hands And Neck

When you look in the mirror, the first thing you see is your face. But according to leading aestheticians, people need to pay as much attention to their hands and neck too.

Your skincare routine should start at your hairline and go down to your nipples. The neck and chest are both prone to accumulating damage due to sun exposure and require special attention every morning.

So too do the hands. Regularly protecting them with sunscreen can ward off damage caused by sunshine and toxins in the environment.

Use Holistic Skincare Products

Recently, we’ve seen an explosion in the number of CBD skincare products on the market. The reason for this comes down to the dual-effect of certain substances. Skincare isn’t just skin deep. Your overall health also plays a substantial role in how it eventually looks.

That’s part of the motivation behind modern skincare formulations. Brands are trying to include pro-health ingredients that keep the skin healthier for longer.

Don’t Mix Certain Skincare Products

Some of us mistakenly believe the more the merrier when it comes to skincare, but that’s not the truth. You shouldn’t, for instance, use retinol and benzoyl peroxide together. They cancel each other out, leaving your acne untouched.

Similar, you want to avoid using vitamin C-containing products alongside those with AHA. The latter changes the pH of the former, which can cause your skin to peel.

Use Milk

Using milk on your skin might sound a little strange, but it works. Researchers have long known that lactic acid is an effective skincare ingredient for people prone to inflammation and breakouts. What’s more, dairy is just about the cheapest way to look after your skin that you can imagine.

Dab a little milk on your face and leave it to work its magic for a few minutes. Then just rinse it off to reveal a sparkling visage.
