As I’ve mentioned here previously, last year I was lucky enough to attend an amazing life-affirming, in many ways, life changing workshop hosted by Aoife Kane and Liz Goodchild
One of the things they talked about was choosing a word for the year – one that almost set out an intention of an affirmation for the year ahead. To my shame, I don’t remember which word Liz had chosen, but Aoife had opted for freedom and was living her life as best she could, towards that goal.
Having only discovered this partway through the year, I didn’t pick a word for 2015. I’ve thought about all the things I did last year, the people I met, the experiences I had – good and bad – and realised that the best times came when I was open to the possibility of good things.
With that in mind, my word for 2016 is openness.
Every day I will try to have an open heart and an open mind, in readiness for all the wonderful possibilities that lie before me.

I love your attitude…so positive and life affirming.
I haven’t given this much thought, but I think my word will be “me”. I’ve let myself go and put others’ needs before my own for so long that I feel as if I’ve lost myself. I need to take better care of me.
Thank you so much. Self care is vital. You can’t pour from an empty jug. You owe it to yourself to at the very least treat yourself with the same kindness you show others. I hope 2016 is the year you rediscover yourself.
