Who doesn’t love shopping? We all enjoy buying ourselves new things, but the only problem is that things cost money! Before you know it, a weekend shopping trip has completely rinsed through all of your earnings for the last few weeks. How has it happened? You’re not sure. All you know is that you needed some new stuff, and now your bank balance is fragile.
The counter to this is that you should stop shopping so much. In some ways, I agree with this. However, there are times where you need to go shopping. You may need a new outfit for an event, or you need to replace your empty foundation. So, how do you shop without spending too much money? Here are some of my best tactics:
Try and find sales
Most shops have sales that run throughout the year. Some are more frequent than others, which is excellent for you. Mainly, the big sales are in January, Easter, Black Friday, and Christmas. You’ll always find great deals if you shop during these sales. Alternatively, look around for any extra sales during the year. The upside of sales is that you can get new clothes and things for a heavy discount. The downside is that things sell fast!

Look for outlets
More and more online shops have outlets that you can get amazing savings on. In essence, they include discounted products that are no longer in season. Realistically, you can still get awesome things for a very cheap price. The outlets are sometimes hidden in the menu bars, so make sure you always check when shopping online.
Take advantage of new customer offers
So many shops offer exclusive discounts and free stuff to new customers. They do this to try and draw you in, hoping that you’ll become a loyal customer in the future. It’s surprisingly effective, but it’s an excellent way to save money when you shop. Use sites like Signup Offers to check all the new offers available right now. Then, shop based on what places give you the best discounts and freebies!
Look for discount codes
Similarly, be on the lookout for any discount codes. Again, there are websites you can check to find these codes, and they’ll give you some money off your purchases. Many shops have ongoing codes, while others introduce them throughout the year. So, stay on top of things by checking regularly. Also, if you’re a student, then sign up for things like Unidays as you can get loads of student discounts on so many things.
Have you considered using a budget app? Easy to use and as you have your mobile phone with you at all times, always accessible – so a great way to keep track.
Apply these tactics whenever you go shopping. Trust me, they’ll help you save so much money on everything you buy. It may require extra effort as you have to do some research to find the best places to shop. However, this effort is well worth it when you see how much money you can save. Now, you’ll feel less guilty when you go on your shopping trips, and your bank balance won’t be put under as much stress.

Great advise, really need to look for the Outlets, this is a gem I didn’t know about.
