Giving in gracefully

So as you all know, I decided this month to try my hand at #NaNoWriMo2016 – from a blog writing perspective rather than a novel writing one. I have, in the past been notoriously shite at these month long blogging challenges, but I did start this one with good intentions.  Fate, however, has had other ideas and has intervened this time, in the shape of Virgin Media being utter pricks.

My broadband went down on Friday – an engineer visited last night and the outcome is, I will be without internet at home until at least November 24th.  (It’s a long and tedious tale, but if you are so inclined, you can read all about it here, in tweet sized chunks)

Anyway, to cut to the chase, I am already way behind on the #NaNoWriMo challenge and on closer inspection, it looks like I somehow labelled Day Three as Day Two – (not sure how that happened possibly posting the wrong side of midnight maybe) so I am even further behind than I suspected.

Way too much catching up to do from here, even if I did have working broadband at home, so I am going to bow out gracefully and accept defeat.

For once, it’s not entirely my fault, so that’s something I guess, but I am actually really disappointed. It’s one thing when I fuck up or fail, it’s quite another when that decision is taken out of my hands and someone else fucks up FOR me. How rude!

Meanwhile, if anyone from Virgin media is reading this – sort your shit out, eh? This is not good customer service and actually, the £20 you have given me to “restore my faith in the company” has done completely the opposite. Twenty days without internet due to a fault YOU caused when installing my neighbours’ services is not really acceptable, is it? And if, as they have been promised, my neighbours’ internet works perfectly on Thursday, when mine will be off for at least another TWO WEEKS after that – I shall want to know the reason why.
