Summer Make Up Bargains
If, like me you are mad about make-up, then keep reading because I’ve found some great bargains online and in store, if you want to add to your supplies over the summer.
First up, and most cost free – don’t be afraid to ask for free samples. Beauty counters such as Clinique and Estée Lauder often have free tester pots which are ideal travel size treats.
Free make-up samples – try before you buy – are a great way to experiment with different colours and products without wasting the cost of a full price item that you might only use a couple of times.
Bargain shops often have surprisingly good make-up and skincare ranges. As well as cut price, end of range brand names, places like Poundland have their own range – who can argue with £1 an item? Quality can vary of course, but I’ve found the Poundland products to be consistently good value.
Beauty boxes such as Glossybox and Birchbox can also throw up some amazing bargains. They often include full size items of high end beauty products at a fraction of their actual cost.
The star item in the July Glossybox, for example, is Bellapierre Cosmetics Banana Setting Powder – a firm favourite of a certain Ms K Kardashian, if the gossip is to be believed.
Glossybox starts at just £10 and the Banana Powder alone retails at £25 so you’ve already made a massive saving before you add the other products in the box into the equation.
If you are after a striking new look for a big night out, most of the beauty counters in department stores and place like Boots and The Body Shop will do makeovers, sometimes completely free or with the purchase of a make up or skincare product.
Also check out local beauty courses – students there are always looking for models to practice hair, beauty, facial treatments and manicures, often at a fraction of the cost you would pay in a salon.
Basically, bargains are there for the taking – looking like a million dollars needn’t necessarily come with a high price tag.
